Pins and needles

pins and needles

pins and needles

like the tip tap of your finger,

and the pit pat of your foot;

shooting up your legs

and down your crooked spine;

like walls caving in

on your throbbing body.

pins and needles

pins and needles

like screaming for help

but no breath having escaped you;

like the tiny bubbles formed

from a crashing wave;

persuading you to

release yourself

of your limbs.

pins and needles

pins and needles

like spiders crawling

up and down your delicate skin;

like a knife stabbing

every pore and crevice;

like an endless cycle

of pain and torture.

pins and needles

pins and needles

no matter how

hard the pain is to bare;

how easy, you think,

it is to just give up;

those pins and

needles remind

you of one very

special thing:

you are alive.
